NEW TEA ROOM
A long awaited tea room was installed in one of our factories.
Our staff now have a quiet space to escape.
APT is proud to have contributed to the COVID-19 response, partnering with our fellow customer and supplier partnerships. Our knowledgeable, dedicated team were able to manufacture complex precision components to go into respirators within a very tight turnaround time.
After receiving TGA approval, they will be used within Australia, and potentially worldwide, to support our health system.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Nicola Weinzierl is a committee member of the Berwick Chamber of Commerce, representing businesses in our industrial estate. The Berwick Chamber held their meeting at APT in March, giving an opportunity for the committee to see what gets manufactured in their local area.
This month RMIT invited Ankita Champaneri, our Aerospace Quality Engineer, to speak to the first and second year engineering students about A Day in the Life of an Engineer. Ankita graduated from RMIT in 2017.
CENTRE FOR DEFENCE INDUSTRY CAPABILITY (CDIC)
SUPPLIER CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (SCIP) SELF ASSESSMENT
In February we began round two of the CDIC SCIP self-assessment process.
The first review took place in 2017, we are eager to see the results and progress we’ve made over the past 3 years.

This year APT proudly sponsored St Kilda AFLW midfielder Samantha Johnson.
Denis and Danny travelled to Hannover, Germany to attend EMO – the world’s No. 1 trade show for the metalworking industry.
DEFENCE INDUSTRY AWARDS
APT was announced as a finalist for Manufacturer of the Year for the Defence Industry Awards.
We are extremely proud to be a named alongside the other exceptional finalists.
Adam, Garry, Richard and Nicola attended the gala night at the Australian Institute of Sport, Canberra on Thursday 26 September.
CO-ORDINATE MEASURING MACHINE
Our second Mitutoyo Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) arrived at the end of August.
We are excited to be able to increase our measuring capabilities and upskill our staff.
We received delivery of an Okuma 5 axis Genos to our CNC milling workshop.
This new machine will assist with our capabilities in supplying to our defence customers and was part funded through the recent SICP grant we received.
SOVEREIGN INDUSTRIAL CAPABILITY PRIORITY (SICP) GRANT
APT was successful in gaining a $1.2 million CDIC SICP grant.
These grants were awarded to small businesses developing or supporting capabilities critical to defence.
This investment will enable APT to increase its advanced manufacturing capabilities with two further CNC Mills and another Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).

This month Richy and Adam visited the Avalon 2019 Australian International Airshow Aerospace and Defence Expo. They had the opportunity to network with defence and aerospace primes and fellow industry suppliers – a valued opportunity for APT.

10 YEARS SERVICE
Our ever reliable employee, Dave Hoey, celebrated 10 years at APT. Richy is pictured here thanking and congratulating Dave.
This year we spent our annual Christmas breakup at the Yarra Valley Races. APT sponsored a race and a fun day was had by all.
VISIT BY FEDERAL TREASURER HON JOSH FRYDENBERG MP
On Wednesday 14 November 2018 the Hon Josh Frydenberg MP, our Federal Treasurer visited APT to unveil the government’s plan to enable small business to get loans easier and cheaper.
APT bro’s rallied together to grow their mo’s (sister’s walked) to raise money for Movember. A great effort by all.
ISCAR LOGIQ PRODUCT LAUNCH
Richy travelled to Auckland, New Zealand for the Iscar LOGIQ product launch. The special LOGIQ seminar day was dedicated to increasing productivity and profitability on our production floor.
Cost saving machine solutions and productivity innovation was explored utilising Industry 4.0. The event also gave Richy the opportunity to catch up with our industry partners.
2018 LAND FORCES
Richy and Adam attended Land Forces in Adelaide. They are pictured here with the Rheinmetall Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) which is the chosen vehicle for Land 400 Phase 2.
Land Forces provided a great opportunity for them to meet up with defence primes and valued customers. They got to see the latest equipment, technology and services for the defence forces of Australia and the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
NEW TORNOS CNC LATHE
We installed a new Tornos CNC Lathe to increase our capabilities in supplying the defence sector with their expanding requirements. We would like to thank Subrat Sahu, from the Tornos team, who was with us for two and a half weeks to help train and share his knowledge.
Wade Bishop and Jayden Wilson started with APT in 2015, straight out of school, to begin their Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trad through the AI Group. They completed their apprenticeship in July 2018 and attended Chisholm Institute for their schooling. We have enjoyed seeing Wade and Jayden develop into accomplished Fitter and Machinists.
